International Training on Coastal Water Quality Assessment and Environmental Monitoring for Small Island Sustainability
The International Training on Coastal Water Quality Assessment and Environmental Monitoring for Small Island Sustainability is a five-day, hands-on training for early-career ocean professionals with up to five years of experience. Taking place from 2–6 November 2026 in Jakarta and the Thousand Islands, Indonesia, the course develops practical skills in coastal water quality monitoring, environmental assessment and small-island sustainability. Participants will receive training in CTD profiling, seawater sampling with Niskin bottles, nutrient analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometry, water quality indices, QGIS and evidence-based environmental assessment, combining classroom learning, fieldwork, laboratory analysis and a group case study. The course has no tuition fee, and selected participants may receive travel and accommodation support, subject to availability. There are 10 places for Indonesian participants and 10 for international participants. Applications are open from 17–31 August 2026.
