OZEAON
Inspiring Regenerative Innovation & Sustainable Development
Inspiring regenerative innovation for a sustainable future through Open Science, Crowdfunding, and Transparency.
Championing sustainability for the health & wellbeing of society and the environment. Generate new knowledge & make Progress.
Aim of the Project
Ozeaon is a globally accessible educational technology platform accelerating regenerative innovation and sustainable development. Through open-access education, decentralized innovation tools, and community co-creation, the platform empowers learners, researchers, and funders to build, verify, and scale impactful projects.
Combining blockchain, regenerative & ethical AI, open science, crowdfunding and content creation, Ozeaon enables users to publish articles, collaborate, access summarised research, and fund regenerative initiatives. The platform turns knowledge into action and participation into measurable change by supporting climate, ocean, and land-based solutions at scale. Our main focus is within the ocean-climate-nexus as we believe that we can achieve the most impact for regenerative innovation here.

Main Achievements of OZEAON (to date)
Ozeaon was accepted into and completed two competitive accelerator programmes in 2025:
- Climate Launchpad (by Climate KIC), where Ozeaon refined its business model and financial planning and competed in the National Finals at UPTEC, Porto.
- Go-Together EdTech Accelerator (by DOHE), which proved pivotal in scaling Ozeaon from an early-stage concept into a team-led, execution-ready platform with clear development and growth strategies.
- Advanced Digital Technologies for the Blue Economy (ADT4Blue), which is being undertaken to help us refine our concept and design the Ozeaon Climate Intelligence System (OCIS) for AI leveraged project validation and dMRV services.
During the Go-Together programme, Ozeaon evolved from relying on a single developer to assembling a multidisciplinary team of 20+ professionals and advisors, spanning regenerative education, AI, blockchain, software engineering, economics, stakeholder engagement, and marketing. This marked a major organisational milestone, enabling coordinated development and long-term execution.
Ozeaon secured collaboration with two experienced development teams:
- Tandem Creative Dev (UK-based), supporting full-stack web development and AI integration.
- ZentixSoft, supporting full-stack engineering and blockchain development.
These partnerships provide the platform with strong foundations in system architecture, database design, AI integration, and Web3 infrastructure.
- Appointment of a Brand & Design Team, leading UX/UI, visual identity, and design systems.
- Appointment of an Advisory Board, strengthening outreach, brand positioning, and growth strategy in the lead-up to launch.
- Ozeaon began forming its advisory ecosystem, including expertise in:
- AI Ethics & Digital Governance
- Web3 & Blockchain Sustainability
- Regenerative Economics
- Sustainability & Climate Science
- Regenerative Education & Learning
- Community Engagement
& Social Impact
- Ocean Literacy
- Art, Design & Media
- Legal & Regulatory Affairs
- AI Ethics & Digital Governance
Advisors have already contributed to refining platform tokenomics, validating educational content, and strengthening the integrity of incentive and funding mechanisms.
Development began on Ozeaon’s Educational Resources framework, including early work toward an Indigenous Knowledge Hub, laying the groundwork for future collaboration with Indigenous leaders and knowledge holders worldwide.
Ozeaon was successfully incorporated in Singapore, establishing a strong global business base. In parallel, plans were initiated to launch the OZEAON Foundation in Portugal as a non-profit arm focused on ethical governance, grant acquisition, and cascade funding for platform users.
Ozeaon is currently incorporating its European headquarters to work towards delivering the Ozeaon Climate Intelligence System (OCIS)
OZEAON was exhibited and presented at major events, including:
- University of Algarve – H2O & Sustainability Summit (Faro)
- Web Summit (Lisbon)
These engagements generated strong interest from students, researchers, and practitioners, validating demand for the platform.
OZEAON received independent media recognition through a published Venture Spotlight by Ocean Tech Insider, following meetings at Web Summit.
The platform is now preparing for an initial public launch in April, with plans to present OZEAON at multiple international conferences and summits, expanding ocean literacy, regenerative innovation, and impact-driven funding globally.

Joseph Flynn
Founder & CEO, UN Ocean Decade Project Lead
Joseph Flynn is a sustainability leader, regenerative systems designer, and multidisciplinary innovator working at the intersection of environmental resilience, human wellbeing, and emerging technologies. His work integrates open science, regenerative finance, ethical artificial intelligence, and decentralized governance to address complex challenges across the ocean–climate–land nexus.
Joseph holds a Master of Design for Health & Wellbeing from ESAD.cr, IPLEIRIA (Portugal) and a Master of Contemporary Art from the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne, complemented by full-stack web development training at Le Wagon Lisboa. This rare combination of design research, systems thinking, creative leadership, and technical capability underpins his approach to building scalable, human-centred climate technology infrastructure.
Leadership Formation and Global Training
In preparation for founding and leading a global, mission-driven organisation, Joseph has undertaken extensive international training in climate leadership, sustainable development, regenerative finance, and ethical technology governance. Key programs include:
- Tech for Good: The Role of ICT in Achieving the SDGs (edX Verified Certificate, UNESCO SDG Academy)
- Sustainability Leadership Training with the European Institute of Innovation for Sustainability (EIIS) in Rome, following prior completion of Biodiversity & Business Sustainability
- The Climate Reality Project Leadership Training with Al Gore (Rome cohort).
- Founding member of the Impact Leaders Alliance (ILA), chaired by economist Jeffrey D. Sachs
- ReFi Talents and AI Talents programs with the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center
- Certified Blue Economist (CBEc) with specialisations in Blue Business Development and Blue Data Intelligence, delivered by the Blue Economist International Association in partnership with Podomoro University and MaritimX Academy.
- EIT Food Inspire Programme – Restorative Aquaculture, delivered online and in Oban, Scotland with the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS).
Professional Background and Vision
Joseph began his career in IT services and application support at the University of Melbourne in 2013, before moving into leadership roles across the arts, design, and creative industries, including gallery direction, exhibition curation, and digital design. Over more than a decade, he has developed deep expertise in user engagement, knowledge dissemination, and platform-driven community building.
Today, Joseph is fully dedicated to building OZEAON as a decentralized, user-governed infrastructure that empowers communities to learn, co-create, and fund regenerative solutions across ocean, land, and climate systems. His leadership is grounded in a belief that education, open knowledge, and ethical technology, when aligned with regenerative economics can become powerful levers for systemic change.
