Clear Seas Indigenous Internship Program
The Clear Seas Indigenous Internship Program provides a 4–6 month, paid, part-time research and learning opportunity for Indigenous learners in Canada. Interns develop research skills while addressing marine-related topics that are important to Indigenous communities, with projects potentially covering marine conservation, invasive species, marine pollution, shipping impacts, traditional food sources and other environmental issues. The programme combines research with Traditional Knowledge and Indigenous ways of knowing, and provides dedicated mentorship, connections with academic and industry experts, and opportunities to develop professional skills and networks. Interns receive a CAD 10,000 research stipend, with additional funding available for training, travel, materials and conference participation. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with programme intakes in May and November.
