Cordelia Roberts is a third year PhD candidate as part of the ARIES doctoral training programme based at the Marine Biological Association and University of Plymouth, Plymouth, UK. She talks to us about her research on the Ocean microbiome and explains how understanding the role and function of microbes in the Ocean can lead to great discoveries regarding the Ocean’s regulation of Earth’s climate.
Cordelia’s research includes both lab based and sea-going research, but also delivering science communication about her work and she’s keen to point out that educating and engaging society in the marine microbiome is an important part of the Decade of Ocean Science.
Take a look at the stop motion animation Cordelia created to illustrate the synopsis of nature microbiology perspectives paper: Priorities for ocean microbiome research. You can reach out to Cordelia on twitter here.
