Annual Conference of the Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute (GCFI79)
The 79th Annual Conference of the Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute (GCFI79) will take place in Curaçao from 2–6 November 2026. The conference will convene scientists, fishers, policymakers, students, civil society organizations, and marine resource managers from across the Gulf and Caribbean region to exchange knowledge and advance sustainable fisheries and marine conservation. The 2026 theme, “Future-Proofing Fisheries: Resources, Resilience, and Tradition,” focuses on strengthening the resilience of fisheries and coastal communities through science, innovation, inclusive governance, and traditional knowledge. The programme will include technical sessions, workshops, networking opportunities, student awards, film festival activities, and discussions on marine biodiversity, climate change adaptation, marine pollution, ocean governance, and blue economy.
