In 2024\, we are shifting our program from the well-known early Wednesday breakfast to a Tuesday luncheon to make the time more agreeable and facilitate maximum ECOP/YP turnout and engagement. We have assembled a broad coalition of early career thought leaders from MTS\, IEEE OES\, the Halifax Local Organizing Committee\, and the national node of the UN Decade ECOP Programme for Canada to host a discussion on the role of professional societies in stimulating and supporting international and interdisciplinary research and development collaborations such as those envisioned and endorsed by the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. As always\, attendance will be validated on a first-come\, first-served basis. DESCRIPTION:Thursday September 22\, 2022 at 8AM PT / 12PM AT/ 3PM UTC / 5PM CEST \nLooking to grow your network and connect with researchers and ocean professionals across the world? \nJoin MEOPAR\, IMBeR and OFI for a virtual International Networking Connector to meet new peers\, grow new collaborations and partnerships\, share information and knowledge about projects and initiatives. \nThis session is an endorsed UN Ocean Decade Activity and open to all researchers and ocean professionals interested in growing their networks. \nWhat to expect? This is a semi-structured speed-networking style session using Gather Town. A facilitator will guide small groups for 10 minute conversations about a specific networking question\, before rotating to join a new group – just like a World Café. DESCRIPTION:The opening plenary will hear statements by the Presidents of the Conference\, the Secretary-General of the United Nations\, the President of the General Assembly\, the President of the Economic and Social Council and the Secretary-General of the Conference. \nIn accordance with General Assembly resolution 73/292\, at the opening of the Conference consideration will be given to all procedural and organizational matters\, including the adoption of the rules of procedure and the agenda\, the election of the two Presidents of the Conference\, the election of officers\, the establishment of subsidiary organs\, as appropriate\, the appointment of the members of the Credentials Committee\, arrangements for the preparation of the report of the Conference and other matters.
