Created in 2018, OYSTER is an independent working group funded by the EuroMarine network. OYSTER is dedicated to promoting and supporting opportunities for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in marine science. In 2020, the OYSTER network officially joined the Ocean Decade Alliance. The group is composed of more than 20PhD and postdoctoral researchers. Its main activities include: workshops, fellowship programmes, mentorship programmes, ECR conferences, and conducting surveys.
